Following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Finland in May, Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä led a delegation of Finnish officials and business leaders to China during the last week of June. I addition to Mr Xi Jinping, Mr Sipilä met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and numerous other representatives of the host nation.
KaiCell Fibers Ltd CEO Jukka Kantola accompanied the Prime Minister with a view to further raise awareness of the company’s biorefinery destined for Paltamo, northeast Finland.
On top of the already close relationship that exists between KaiCell Fibers and the Chinese textile industry giant CHTC, an investment pre-agreement was signed in Beijing 29.6.2017 by Mr Jukka Kantola, and Mr Dongxing Wang, Chairman of Hi-Tech Fiber Group Corporation on behalf of China Hi-Tech (Jiangxi) Textile Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The parties released the following joint statement:
Using new technology developed in Finland, KaiCell targets to produce Arbron™ as an intermediate viscose raw material that can be used by existing plants in a way that bypasses and eliminates health and environmentally problematic stages. This means that existing viscose plants can produce an environmentally friendly viscose, and they can do it at competitive cost.
Arbron™ is an entirely new bio-product with the potential to make viscose a truly green and cost efficient global textile under the mission statement Helping Nature dress the world.
As the world’s dominant viscose manufacturer, China plays a key role in shaping the global textile industry trends. Finland is a leader in forest technology and product development with an annual wood growth rate that significantly outstrips harvesting. This makes for a perfect fit, in which the parties complement each other.
